Adventurous Training & Expeditions
These activities influence our cadets’ personal development and inspire them to achieve their full potential. They provide an opportunity to engage in arduous and challenging activities that significantly enhance our cadets’ ability to identify and manage risk and they develop teamwork, leadership and moral courage.
Fieldcraft & Tactics
You will start by learning the basics of personal camouflage and how to move as an individual in the field, then go on to learn how to work together as a section in the field, before eventually commanding your own section.
Shooting
One of the most exciting activities you’ll get to do in the Army Cadets is shooting. It is the main activity that differentiates the Army Cadets from most other youth organisations. Learning about shooting will teach you a number of key skills, the most important of which are discipline and safety awareness. It also brings with it a great sense of achievement.
First Aid
We require a number of our adults to undertake formal First Aid qualifications to ensure that there is suitable First Aid provision in place for all the activities we carryout. In addition, all cadets receive training in lifesaving first aid skills to enable them to cope in the event of an accident or incident.
Sport
As an Army Cadet you will have the option to take part in a variety of sports and competitions such as athletics, cross country, swimming, football, rugby, hockey, orienteering and tug-of-war. All sports involve both boys and girls. But before you reach the national finals, there are regional heats to compete in.
Military Knowledge
Learning about how the military functions and the role it has played in world history are an important part of your cadet training. In this topic you will learn about the customs and traditions of the British Army.
DofE
ACF cadets can challenge themselves with the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Over 6,000 cadets and volunteers take part each year, with 2,000 earning awards.
